Sage is a plant high from 30 to 60 cm, with strong roots, on the bottom is woody and the upper part of the plant is herbaceous. Leaves are long and oval, flowers are dark violet color. This plant grows wild but is also cultivated because of her very precious essential oil. Latin name Salvia derives from the latin word “salvare” which means “to save” or “to heal”. Ancient Romans used this plant 2000 years ago for healing. The part of plant which is used is the leaf, full of tannins. Sage is present in a big number of medicines that are used for the treatment of soar throat and inflammations, thanks to her antiseptic qualities. Before the discovery of antibiotics it was used during centuries as tea infusion in cases of TBC to stop the perspiration. Sage tea is used to invigorate the organism.
