Geranium

Geranium (Pelargonium graveolens L.) is a plant from the Geraniaceae family. Pelargonium species have been known for centuries in traditional aromatherapy in many countries.

Due to their sweet and pleasant smell, they were planted around houses with the belief that they drive away evil spirits. Geranium leaves are distilled with steam. Due to the alcohol content, this oil works well against some pathogenic bacteria and fungi. In addition, oils rich in esters have a mild antispasmodic and calming effect on the central nervous system.

Its strong and intense scent is reminiscent of a rose, so it is a common ingredient in perfumes and other cosmetic products. Geranium oil is used to beautify the skin and hair, against infections, and to relieve stress and tension. It has a favorable effect on the heart rhythm, blood pressure, breathing, immune system, and helps in cell and tissue regeneration. It is characterized by strong antimicrobial properties and has an anti-inflammatory effect, which is why it is used in wound care. It lifts the mood and relieves tension.
